My Dirty Dozen

1. Gone with the Wind. This movie will never get old for me, not even one minute of the 4 hours. I find that I relate with Scarlett a lot, which is probably why. Maybe not entirely, as Scarlett was kind of a heinous bitch to Rhett. So not in that way, but she's certainly free-spirited, loves her home, and a little bit of a firecracker. I am all these things.
"I can't think about that today, I'll think about that tomorrow."
-Scarlett O'Hara

2. Robin Hood: Men in Tights. For any of you who have seen this movie, you will not need an explanation. (Though some will probably ask, of all Mel Brooks movies, why Men in Tights?) There are two reasons. One, whenever someone hears my name is Marian, they will make 1 of the two pop culture references. The first and most often being a ridiculous and, more often than not, horrible rendition of the "Marian the Librarian" song from the Music Man. I hate this. I hate this so much that I can't even explain how much I hate this.

Now, when I hear someone say "Oh, Marian, like Maid Marian!", I smile and say...
..."Yes, exactly like Maid Marian."
Because who doesn't want to be Maid Marian? She's BAD. ASS. Plus she gets Robin Hood. Win-win. Also, I am obsessed and love all Robin Hood stories, movies, books, ANYTHING.

Also, another reason I love this movie, it was the first one I watched with my friends I met in high school. The friends I am still close with today. So many memories come with this movie. It never gets old for me. The night we got together to watch this remains the best night of my life.

Little John: Let me introduce you to my best friend: Will Scarlet.
Scarlet: Scarlet's my middle name. My full name is Will Scarlet O'Hara.
(pause)
Scarlet: We're from Georgia.
Coincidence that my favorite quote is about Scarlet O'Hara? hahaha. I told you I liked Gone With the Wind.

3. Star Wars Trilogy: All three of them. The second set of three that came out, I would not even like to discuss. Hayden Christensen's acting skills are worse than Mark Hamill, that's saying something. That's all I have to say about the matter. Return of the Jedi is pictured because I prefer the happy ending, but Empire Strikes back is a close second. Yoda, I love that little green guy.

Yoda: No more training do you require. Already know you, that which you need.
Luke: Then I am a Jedi
Yoda: No. Not yet. One thing remains. Vader. You must confront Vader.  Then, only then, a Jedi will you be. And confront him you will.

4. Can you get any better than Mel Gibson and Heath Ledger? The answer is no. That is unless it's Clark Gable and Vivian Leigh. I have a weakness for war movies. Any kind at all, any war. I like the WWII movies the best, with Revolutionary following close behind. They fascinate me.

"Papa! Papa, don't, I'll say anything! Please, papa, I'll say anything you want, tell me what you want me to say and I'll say it... Papa please don't go"
-Susan Martin (A rather touching point of the movie. The little girl hadn't said anything for years since her mother died. When her father was going to return to fight, she yelled after him.)

5. Pride and Prejudice: the Colin Firth one. It. Is. Awesome. All 300 minutes of this mini-tv-series. I have not yet seen the original, which I hear is also sweet. I will do this one day.

I may say the disclosure had quite the opposite effect to the one she intended. It taught me to hope as I had scarcely ever allowed myself to hope before.
-Mr. Darcy
6. The Wizard of Oz: for obvious reasons. Not only do I love Judy Garland, but this was one of my parent's favorite movies while we were growing up, and also one of the only ones that we could agree to watch with the many siblings I have.

"There's no place like home."
-Dorothy
7. the Sound of Music: Can you tell I like the classics yet? Can you also tell that I tend to like really long movies? It is the truth, and will be the reason that whoever I end up with will never want to watch movies with me

"You brought music back into the house. I had forgotten..."
-Captain Von Trapp
8. X-Men Origins: Wolverine. All X-Men movies should be on this list. They are my favorite super-hero movies, hands down, end of story. Wolverine is not my favorite X-Men, but this movie is the best by far compared to the X-Men trilogy. Rogue happens to be my favorite, if anyone was curious.
"I thought you were the Moon and I was your Wolverine. Turns out you're the Trickster, and I'm just the fool who got played."
-Wolverine
Ahh, and haven't we all felt like this at some moment in time?
9. An Affair to Remember: hands down one of the best romantic movies of all time. I have a weakness for Cary Grant. What a stud.
"I really hope you've found happiness, and if you're ever in need of anything, like someone to love you, don't hesitate to call me"
-Kenneth Bradley
 10. Forrest Gump: anyone who has seen this knows the reason why. First off, Tom Hanks is absolutely amazing. What a great actor. I haven't been disappointed by him yet. Also, I enjoyed the history part of it. Obviously it wasn't true, but the fact that they used real footage for a lot of it was pretty darn cool.
"My Mama always said you've got to put the past behind you before you can move on."
-Forrest Gump
11. Pearl Harbor: probably the only movie that I like with Ben Affleck. This could be from lack of watching any with him, but I just don't seem to like him all that much. I was never a fan of Josh Hartnett either, but they were both good in this movie.
"That's what I want to come home to, that's what I want to have to think about and dream about. I wanna know that the best part of my life is still ahead of me."
-Rafe

 12. The Rocky Series: these never get old for me. My brothers and I used to watch them when we were younger. Rocky II happens to be my favorite, but is closely followed by Rocky IV, where he fights the Russian.

"I never knew you's was so light, If I did I woulda carried you everywhere"
-Rocky (talking to his wife, Adrian)

  2. Oh I love Gone with the Wind! And I totally forgot about Wizard of Oz. Probably because I don't have it on DVD yet lol. And an Affair to Remember is soooooo sad, but really really good, and I really like Pearl Harbour too. Anyways, I loved your list - it made me smile!
